Just before dawn today, while the crescent moon was bouncing on the hill tops across the valley, with the normally dark area lit up too to make a full yin-yang circle, Orion’s belt appeared for the first time since Spring and the sky told me something special and unprecedented was happening in the underlying warp and weft of reality – mystics are calling today the Lion’s Gate, incidentally, a portal through which we’ve the possibility of entering a new dimension of being, while an ice sheet as big as the Four Corners region of Utah, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico, just broken away from Greenland, is heading briskly south celebrating its liberation even as we speak, all of it adding fresh sparkle to the sense of infinite possibility I detect in the air as the virgin morning light streams brazenly down onto this crazy little, spiritually supercharged, hedonistically fuel-injected island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, where I’ve hung my hat for the time being in the name of the evolution of sound healing specifically via psychosonic beat and dance-floor microphony development.
Mind power
To wit, it would have been handy had a full night’s sleep preceded to afford me ample reserves to handle with utmost aplomb and dexterity tonight’s gig with Hofer66 on a beautiful terrace overlooking the marina with all the swanky yachts and the old town bathed in the garish light of the fireworks they’ll be letting off in honour of Ibiza gaining its independence – from whom, no one seems to remember – the Martians probably.
But that wasn’t to be. With my friend and business associate Phil, arriving from the airport at 4 am and two others at 5 am to be at the gig, I managed a mere couple of hours of blissful unconsciousness.
And this brings up natter about the whole mind-over-matter matter: if I tell my mind to assume I’ve just had 8 hours sleep and to direct itself all the way down to the autonomic level on that basis, I’ll have sufficient élan vital to support me till the gig and the inevitable after-party have been enjoyed and put to bed.
I’ll have to help it along by doing copious rounds of tai chi, pakua and xing yi and many laps of the pool and indulge in many cold showers to keep the chi flowing, consciousness expanding and make the focus sharp and I’ll have to do lots of vocal exercise and gibberish singing while playing the guitar to smooth my tone and liberate my improvisation skills and personality in general, but essentially, my mind once instructed will take care of the basic setup and ensure a successful completion to the day.
I say so without arrogance. To the contrary, I say it as an affirmation, humbled by the power of consciousness and mention it all only as a bid to inspire you similarly to develop increasing trust in your own mind.
Trust your own mind
And this latter is important, because as my dear late, great friend and mentor, RD Laing, said, “…we’re psychophobic – we’re afraid of our own minds – I call it psychophobia - it’s a symptom of our culture”.
To gain enlightenment and transcendence you at least have to start to trust your own mind, or the whole experience will wobble about too much to do anything useful with.
Obviously there are no magic shortcuts to this – as with any relationship it takes time to trust. You can but begin with the willingness – tell yourself, for instance, “I’m willing to trust my own mind from now on.” Say it a few times and see how it makes you feel.
Once you start trusting your own mind more, you start naturally also trusting life more, which ultimately implies trusting death more, of course – this connection is obvious really when you consider your whole experience of being you in the world takes place in your mind.
And this level of existential robustness and resilience is essential at times of such blatant radical transition as this.
Also try taking Bach Flower remedy of walnut, which is incredibly efficacious in steadying the nerve whenever in the throes of transition.
Thrive on the changes.
With love, Supercharged
Tell yourself, for instance, “I’m willing to trust my own mind from now on.”
