Currently in the throes of moving house in two countries simultaneously, hence required to partake of more extreme supersonic multitasking than even I’m used to, I’m noticing how the super-skills, the keys to accessing the power of the super-self, really are rather super.
Remain in command
By constantly returning focus to my centre, my core, rather than engage in the illusion of being daunted or unsettled, it produces the effect of feeling even more courage, clarity and inner security, than when passing through relatively less demanding or potentially unsettling passages.
But I also notice a tendency for using this access to override the actual feelings going on. In the external martial arts, students learn to do exactly that: override the feelings in order to exert brute strength on an opponent.
Own your feelings
Yet the internal martial arts (The Taoist forms of tai chi, pa kua and xing yi), whence most of my material springs, suggest owning the feelings, experiencing them fully moment by moment, yet simultaneously adhering to the principles of internal power, giving the sensation of straddling two spheres of reality at the same time.
Similar to moving house in two countries at the same time.
Naturally, on the practical level, I have to watch not to strain my adductor (inner thigh) muscles, as the two material spheres I’m dealing with are 1,000 miles apart and that’s quite a stretch to straddle. And it’s the same in terms of accommodating two realms of being at the same time.
You have to relax to avoid strain.
Relaxation mechanics
Relaxing comes in two parts: spotting where you’re tensing and then letting it go.
So I heartily recommend, for old times’ sake as well as for what’s to come, to invest a few seconds once an hour or so, in scanning from head to toe for tense spots and wherever you find one, exhale and command the muscles and sinews there to release, which they’ll only be too happy to do. The body always wants to normalize.
Once you’re in the habit of doing so – a habit greatly aided by consciously breathing slowly, evenly and deeply, and not holding your breath – your mind naturally relaxes too and what might otherwise have seemed daunting transforms into a pleasant challenge instead.
Wish
I leave you with that wish: everything daunting transforms into a pleasant challenge, to which you rise up like a master and overcome in the blink of an eye.
(Say aye, aye. Let it be so.)
End of transmission from the front/s.
With love, Supercharged
