Supercharged festive passage

Flying into Ibiza in the mega-strong wind, the gusts so strong they threatened to tip the plane on its head just as it was approaching the runway, a lovely Spanish girl sitting behind me, with whom I’d not even had eye contact, but could sense was watching me to see if I was scared, in the same way you might check the air crew to see how scared they are, and I wasn’t scared – I’m resigned to dying with good grace whenever that moment comes – suddenly grabbed my arm through the gap in the seats as one particularly fierce gust rocked the plane. I turned and smiled, and told her it would all be alright. She gripped my arm even tighter. And it was so innocent and natural, that gesture – like a child with a family member, even though we didn’t know each other. Proof we’re all fundamentally part of the same tribe. It was worth all that rocking about and saying hello to the possibility of death just for that – and of course to arrive back on the island after quite a few weeks absence – and what a privilege and treat for the senses it is to be here now, presently in the fine company of John The Marine, gazing out at the deep blue sea and forested hills of the north, listening to my friend Maxi Jazz's voice on the sound system and all feels well.

I’m noticing – as often I do – a certain restlessness within, partly from having journeyed a couple of thousand miles in and out of many varied places and spaces in the past couple of weeks – and how I still have a tendency to try and work it all out in my mind by wondering whether if I made this move or that it would provide the antidote, but then remembering – and you’d assume I’d never forget seeing as I teach this approach all the time, but I do forget constantly and need to constantly remind myself – that the only antidote to internal restlessness is to  return to the center of stillness within, to come back to the breath, to the moment where everything is complete and nothing is lacking, regardless of where you are or what you’re doing.

Once you do, the external resets itself.

So you don’t need to worry about where you are or what you’re doing, you simply need to remain centered and relaxed in the moment, always with an intention to manifest the very best possible and allow life to make it all happen for you.

Of course you have to attend to your tasks and obligations with as much excellence as you can muster as you go along, just like a fisherman tending to his nets, but you let the sea usher the fish into your nets: you don’t go swimming about in the ocean depths directing them.

And I expect this stratagem to become progressively more useful, crucial even, as the 2012 transition gathers steam.

Meantime, I wish you a most supercharged festive passage, during which you’re graced by an endless stream of serendipity to prove you’re fully connected to the divine grid and are being looked after every step of the way, even though you may not usually be able to see it.

With love, Supercharged Steph (BD)
